NATIONAL HONOURS ANNOUNCEMENT - DECLASSIFICATION

THERE ARE INSTANCES WHERE, FOR SECURITY AND OPERATIONAL REASONS, THE NAMES AND CITATIONS OF CAF RECIPIENTS OF HONOURS AND AWARDS ARE NOT RELEASED PUBLICLY ALTHOUGH THE FACT THAT AN AWARD HAS BEEN MADE IS ANNOUNCED.

AFTER SOME TIME HAS ELAPSED AND THE SECURITY CONCERNS ARE REDUCED TO AN ACCEPTABLE LEVEL, THE NAMES AND SANITIZED CITATIONS CAN BE MADE PUBLIC
FOR EXAMPLE, ON THE OCCASION OF THE UNVEILING OF THE COMMEMORATIVE PLAQUE AT THE VALOUR BUILDING IN OTTAWA ON 25 MAY 15, HONOURING THE 20 RECIPIENTS OF THE STAR OF MILITARY VALOUR (SMV) DURING THE AFGHANISTAN CAMPAIGN, THE PREVIOUSLY CLASSIFIED NAMES AND CITATIONS OF THREE SMV RECIPIENTS WERE RELEASED.
SIMILARLY, TO MARK THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CREATION OF THE MERITORIOUS SERVICE MEDAL (MSM) ON 6 JUN 16, THE PREVIOUSLY UNDISCLOSED NAMES AND CITATIONS OF ELEVEN MSM RECIPIENTS WERE RELEASED FOR PUBLICATION IN THE MSM REGISTER CREATED TO CELEBRATE THE OCCASION.

THE AWARDS BELOW WERE PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED IN A CANFORGEN AND IN THE HONOURS AND RECOGNITION ANNUAL REPORT WITHOUT NAME AND CITATION. AS A RESULT OF DECLASSIFICATION, THE FOL DETAILS ARE NOW RELEASED
